“No One Knows” refers to the idea that there are no real answers to the “big questions“. Taking this idea a step further I wanted to express how someone’s sense of reality will surely change and in some ways, melt away, when they realize that no one really knows.
I’ve always loved the VW Buses and I’ve wanted to create a poster series celebrating these vehicles for a while. The color scheme decision was based on the fact that I was more interested in showing the spirit of these vans instead of being 100% accurate to the original color schemes. I didn’t go into this project intending to make the posters so “grungy” but as I was working on the posters the grunge seemed to add to it’s vintage feel and I just went with it.

One of the eeriest videos I’ve ever seen is Robert Oppenheimer’s comments reflecting on the detonation of the first nuclear bomb in 1945. He quotes the Bhagavad Gita, the Hindu scripture, by saying, “I am become death, destroyer of worlds.” The words alone are ominous enough, but in the video you can see the deep sadness and remorse on Oppenheimer’s face.
